Hands on Learning

The Hands on Learning Program aims to engage students in a range of real life, creative tasks that will benefit not only the students themselves, but the school and local community as whole. It provides learning opportunities that encourage the individual to form respectful and meaningful relationships with other students and mentors and a chance to experience success.

‘Hands on Learning Australia’ has been working in partnership with Noble Park Primary School. A one day program was set up to help engage students using real, practical and creative activities, to work alongside positive mentors, to encourage confidence and self-esteem and to show what they are capable of as team members and as individuals.

Twelve grade 6 students were selected to take part in the program.  The first  team of students were involved in designing and constructing a wood fire pizza oven for the school community to use. During the sessions the students have learnt about handling tools safely, consider work safety and working together as a team.

This is the first of many endeavours students will undertake to add to the variety of ways students learn at NPPS.
